Total to Drill in Sudan after 30 Years

Sudan will soon see renewed upstream operations by the French. Officials of Total have stated that the French company is gearing up to drill for oil nearly 30 years after signing an agreement to do so in Southern Sudan. Minister of Energy John Luk Jok, of the semi-autonomous Southern Sudanese government, stated that Total has set up the base camp and is mobilizing facilities. The French major had stopped its operations for more than 20 years due to Sudan’s civil war.
